Emmanuel Acquah-Gyan is a highly skilled Public Health Professional and Researcher with substantial experience implementing community-based health research and interventions. Emmanuel holds a Master of Science in Public Health (Health Promotion and Education) and a Bachelor of Science in Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He has professional development certificates in Monitoring and Evaluation in Global Health from the University of Washington-USA and Strategic Leadership Training for Health System Transformation and Development in Developing Countries from KNUST. Emmanuel is a registered member of the Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners, Ghana (IMEP-Ghana) and an alumnus of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) 2019 Summer School.
Over the past five years, Emmanuel has obtained extensive experience in health research and capacity building, working as either a Research Assistant (RA), Field supervisor/site coordinator and Quality Control Officer at the School of Public Health-KNUST, specifically, the KNUST and International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Collaborating Center. From 2018- January 2023, notable among the many research projects Emmanuel worked on include the “MobChild” project- Improving Child Survival through Electronic Health Information and Surveillance System, the Severe Typhoid in Africa (SETA Plus) study, and the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine Effectiveness Trial in Ghana (TyVEGHA) project. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, been a reviewer for many reputable journals, and participated in many scientific and stakeholder conferences. Since February 2023, He has been a project officer on the Mastercard Foundation Higher Institutions Health Collaborative in KNUST.
Emmanuel is a dynamic well-motivated person with demonstrable leadership experience. He is a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can work in multi-cultural and multi-national teams. Emmanuel is passionate about contributing to health systems strengthening and transformation through effective collaborations, applied health research, monitoring and evaluation of health interventions, and capacity-building.
