During the closing ceremony of the 5-day workshop on Community Emergency Care (CEC), organized by Africa Health Collaborative, KNUST in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the event organizers took turns advising graduates to drive impactful initiatives in their communities.

“Life is precious, every life is precious”

Dr. Jennifer Wilson, again, reiterated a quote from Dr. Kofi Akohene Mensah, lead of the Health Employment Pillar, to reinforce her conviction in global health equity: “Life is precious, every life is precious. This mantra motivates and inspires me to continue giving my best to this partnership. It ensures we are strengthening health systems, not just here but also in Canada, to achieve global health equity for all.”

Highlighting the positive impact of the initiative over the past two years, Prof. Ellis Owusu-Dabo stressed the need for building resilient health systems, with human resource capacity building at the center.

“The essence of what we are doing is transformation. We’ve learned lessons post-COVID and seen how our systems were torn apart. Some of these lessons are about how to build a resilient, robust health system, and you cannot do that without focusing on people. It’s the people who make the systems strong,” he said.
