MSc Health Entrepreneurship student secures funding for his startup

Norbert Amankwaa Adomako, a student from the inaugural cohort of the MSc Health Entrepreneurship programme run by the Africa Health Collaborative, KNUST, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has secured funding for his startup.

An optometrist and tech entrepreneur, Norbert is the co-founder and CEO of QuariLabs, a Blockchain and AI tech company developing solutions to address real-life challenges.

Bringing his passion for healthcare and technology to the master’s program, Norbert sought to enhance his expertise and drive meaningful change. Throughout his studies, he gained valuable insights that proved instrumental in advancing his startup, securing grants, and funding for QuariLabs.

In September 2024, Norbert’s journey reached a pivotal milestone when he traveled to Toronto, Canada, where he received mentorship from esteemed professionals at the University of Toronto, including Dr. Joseph Ferenbok, Kimberly Crasta, and Nayanashri Thalanki Anantha.

Their guidance was critical in refining his pitch to investors. This included practice pitches in front of a class of students at the University of Toronto to gather feedback, which ultimately contributed to the remarkable growth of his startup.

Today, QuariLabs stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and mentorship. With team members based across Ghana, the United States, Uganda, and Kenya, QuariLabs is expanding its impact and driving innovation.

Norbert credits the Health Ecosystem pillar under the Collaborative led by Dr. Joseph Owusu for playing a crucial role in his journey. He expressed deep gratitude for the program’s support in elevating his company to new heights.
