Miss Sarah Kwansema Ofori is Africa Higher Education Health Collaborative in partnership with Mastercard Foundation scholar reading MPhil Health Systems Research and Management at the School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She aims to enhance digitalization of Ghana’s primary healthcare system.
Interestingly, Kwansema’s rapport with Mastercard Foundation didn’t start now.
After completing Swedru Senior High School, she nurtured a dream of taking up a health programme at the tertiary level. Despite her stellar grades, her financial status became an encumbrance: Her father had passed.
Fortunately, Mastercard Foundation Scholarship came in handy and Kwansema therefore decided to pursue a Physician Assistantship degree at the Central University.
“I had the challenge of furthering my education because my dad was dead at the time. Thanks be to God, I had of a scholarship by Mastercard Foundation,” she said.
Kwansema completed the university with first class honours. Soon, she found herself at the Focus Orthopaedic Hospital in Accra.
After working for some years, Kwansema thought of championing digitalization at the primary health care sector and believed Mastercard Foundation Higher Education Health Collaborative will make it possible.
“I’ve always had the goal of seeing our health system, that is Ghana and Africa going digitalized.
“I believe the scholarship will help me impact the area of digitalization. Primary healthcare will go digitalized enhancing healthcare delivery,” she’s optimistic.
As the world celebrates women, Kwansema believes her digitalization dream is very crucial in driving inclusivity at the primary health care sector.
